A Note from the Presidents of
The Woman’s Club and The Bolling Haxall House Foundation
Welcome to another exciting and challenging year!
As always, the arrival of the new The Woman’s Club Yearbook heralds a season of outstanding programs designed to enlighten, entertain, and enrich our minds and spirits. We hope you will mark your calendars now and make it a habit to be at the Bolling Haxall House Monday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. from October until May. Be sure, also, to take advantage of the Club’s fantastic activities and trips planned for this year. We are pleased to offer everything from learning how to tie the perfect scarf to the latest in flower arranging for your home. Our trip in April features the Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens in Washington, D.C., and a visit to The Phillips Collection. We hope you will join us.
Realizing the sobering effect that the economic downturn has had on each of us, we are especially grateful for your generous support in the past year for the Annual Fund and the Soiree, which provide for maintenance and upkeep of our House. Many of you expressed your disappointment that you were not able to give more at this time but also expressed your desire to be more generous in donations when the economy improves. We all await that time eagerly.
When you arrive at the House for the first event this year, you will see the results of the restoration efforts, including planning and construction that have been going on for the past few years. Take a tour of the House and marvel at the freshness of the paint and restored wallpaper and stucco in the auditorium and foyer pavilion, the new roof and HVAC from the restored second-floor balcony, and the restored garden. All of us will reap the benefits of this preservation project that will ensure the legacy of our beautiful historic home for generations to come.
We look forward to a successful year.

Susan H. Brewer, President, The Woman's Club
